Parks Make Life Better

Parks Make Life Better_Summer 2023

Dog Park:
The Pop-Up Dog Park will be open on July 1 and will remain open until August 31 at Laurel Park (10862 Bloomfield St, Los Alamitos). The hours of the Dog Park are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The park is divided into a small dog section and a large dog section. Please remember to be kind and pick up after your fury friends with the complementary dog bags located at the dog park. 

Flower Seed Giveaway:
All month long at the Los Alamitos Community Center (10911 Oak Street, Los Alamitos) we will be giving away free flower seed packets during regular business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Please take some seeds and plant them in your garden! 

Free Pick-up Sports: 
Free Pick-Up Sports will be available for adults (18 and over) during the month of July for the following programs.
Basketball: Tuesday 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. located at the Oak Middle School Gym 
• Spike Ball: Monday 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. located at Laurel Park

Park Fitness Take Over: 
On Saturday, July 8 at Laurel Park (10862 Bloomfield St, Los Alamitos) from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. come and join Recreation staff for a fun workout to get your body moving! This workout is family friendly and is open to all skills levels. Pre-registration for this event is required and can be made below. 


Park Pop Ups:
Visit a variety of different parks in Los Alamitos and enjoy different and fun activities at each one! During Park Pop Ups, Recreation staff will be there to provide and facilitate fun activities. Pak Pop Up dates and locations can be found here: July 1 at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Ave, Los Alamitos), July 15 at Labourdette Park (4401 Howard Ave, Los Alamitos), and on July 22 at Soroptimist Park (10822 Pine St, Los Alamitos). All Park Pop-Ups will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Sunset Yoga: 
On July 11, 18, and 25 we will be offering a sunset yoga class from 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Laurel Park (10862 Bloomfield ST, Los Alamitos). This class is open to all ages and all skill levels, beginners to intermediate are welcome. Pre-registration is strongly recommended but not required. 


Mini Family Day: 
Come and join Recreation staff for a Mini Family Day partnered with the MemorialCare Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach Summer Concert Series. On Thursday July 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Ave, Los Alamitos) families are encouraged to come and enjoy the free activities and then enjoy a concert in the park! 

Art Workshop:
On Thursday July 13, a free family Art Workshop will be held at the Los Alamitos Community Center (10911 Oak Street, Los Alamitos). from from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This Art Workshop will give families the opportunity to be creative and have fun together! Pre-registration is required for the Art Workshop and can be done below. 



Spike Ball Tournament:
To wrap up the month of fun and free activities, we will be hosting the first ever Los Alamitos Spikeball Tournament! The tournament will be on Saturday, July 29 at Laurel Park (10862 Bloomfield St, Los Alamitos) starting at 9:00 a.m. Participants will be able to engage in a fun and friendly competitive environment. Prizes will be given to overall winners. Pre-registration is required and can be done below.
