An eight-month reconstruction project is set to get underway next month on Valley View Street, from the 22 freeway to the northerly city limit in Garden Grove, which is 1300 feet north of Chapman Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid congestion. Normal working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The unique, environmentally-friendly and long-term, cost-effective street rehabilitation project will use the full depth reclamation (FDR) process, which rebuilds worn out streets by recycling the existing roadway. The old asphalt and base materials are pulverized, mixed with cement and water, and compacted to produce a stronger, more durable base. FDR prolongs the life of the pavement while reducing maintenance costs in the future.
The work also involves the removal and construction of median curbs, bus pads, traffic striping, and raised pavement markers. Construction is scheduled for completion in April 2014. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained.
The project is funded by Federal and Gas Tax funds. For more information, please contact Project Engineer, Navin Maru at (714) 741-5180.
