ARTILLERY SALUTE TO HIGHLIGHT 79TH SUSTAINMENT SUPPORT COMMAND CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY AT JOINT FORCES TRAINING BASE

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. –   The sound of artillery fire will echo across communities surrounding Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) and Los Alamitos Army Airfield on Saturday morning (Dec. 5), but local residents need not be alarmed.

The traditional artillery salute by M119 howitzers of Bravo Battery, 143rd Field Artillery Battalion, California Army National Guard will highlight the formal ceremony at which Maj. Gen. Mark Palzer will assume command of the JFTB-based 79th Sustainment Support Command of the U.S. Army Reserve from Maj. Gen. Megan Tatu.

The ceremony is scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m. and should conclude by 11:30 a.m.

Also note that test firing will take place on Friday (Dec. 4) at several times throughout the day in conjunction with ceremony rehearsals.
