“Ready, Set, Go!” Preschoolers Learned About Dental Health

(Los Alamitos, CA) – February was National Children’s Dental Health month and the children at The City of Los Alamitos “Ready, Set, Go!” preschool program learned about dental health through a fun activity.  Held in their make-believe “dental office” in the preschool building, the children placed food items on tiles representing their teeth. Two days later they brushed the tiles clean and learned the importance of brushing their teeth properly. A favorite among the kids in “Ready, Set, Go!” preschool, the activity engages the children’s interest while they learn about good dental health!

If you’re planning ahead for your toddler’s milestone “first steps” to preschool, or if your preschooler is ready for the pre-kindergarten class, don’t forget to check out the City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department’s preschool program “Ready, Set, Go!” for ages 3-5 years old.  This popular parent participation preschool program provides an opportunity for children to establish relationships, while experiencing a thematic, hands-on approach to learning. Three year olds in the T/TH class will develop language skills, cognitive, and gross motor development.  Four and five year olds in the MWF class will make discoveries, solve problems, and think independently in a learning environment designed to capture their interest while progressing at their own individual pace. The program is offered year-round and varies every season from 6-10 weeks.  Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis until all spots are filled. Parent involvement is required and includes assisting instructor in up to four classes per session. Copy of birth certificate required upon enrollment. Students must be potty trained. Children in the MWF class need to bring a lunch.  For additional information, or to register, please contact the Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department at (562) 430-1073 or visit
