LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. –Los Alamitos Army Airfield (LAAAF) will participate in “Prominent Hunt 15-2,” a multi-agency homeland security exercise beginning this Thursday (August 13)  and concluding Monday (August 17).  The exercise will be conducted by the departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Energy, Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in coordination with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department and the FBI Los Angeles Field Office.

Operations will mainly take place in the Long Beach and San Pedro area.

The training will provide the National Technical Nuclear Forensics Ground Collections Task Force (NTNF GCTF) an opportunity to test its readiness to respond in the event of a nuclear detonation somewhere in the world.   In the immediate aftermath, the mission of the NTNF GCTF would be to collect evidence at the incident site for analysis and the results would be utilized by law enforcement and other agencies.

Flight operations at LAAAF in connection with this exercise are limited and will primarily take place during normal operating hours.  No inconvenience to our neighbors is anticipated.
