Council Member Dean Grose moved to Los Alamitos in 1986, opening a small business in the Delta Los Alamitos Business District. Event Medical Services, Inc. provided on-site medical/first aid services at special events throughout California. A separate division of the company, EMS Medical Products, sold pre-hospital emergency medical supplies and equipment. He is currently doing consulting and is semi-retired.

He ran for the City Council in 2002, 2004 and was elected in 2006 with the largest vote count in that election. He currently serves as a member of the Administrative Services Committee for the League of California Cities and is awaiting appointment to the Public Safety Committee. He is the Second District representative on the Orange County League of Cities.

In 2010, Mr. Grose ran for a position on the Orange County GOP Central Committee and was one of six elected with more than 15,000 votes.

Having served on the Los Alamitos Traffic Commission from 2003 to 2005, he ran for the City Council in 2012 and was elected to a new four-year term. He has been a member of the Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Rotary Club since 2003, serving as president of that group in 2007-08, and as secretary, treasurer, and vice president for administration.

As a member of the Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce, he served on the Board of directors from 2004 to 2007, and again from 2010 until the present. Mr. Grose has also chaired the Regional Military Affairs Committee at the Joint Forces Training Base from 2002 until present; and serves as Secretary of the Legislative Affairs Committee of West Orange County (LACWOC).

Mr. Grose was a member of the Los Alamitos Youth Center Board of Directors from 2004 until 2010; has been on the Board of the Los Alamitos Business Center from 1992 until 2014.He has been a supporter for Precious Life Shelter and CASA Youth Shelter, and more recently the St. Isidore Historical Plaza as well as the Los Alamitos Museum.

In 2012, he was appointed by his council colleagues to the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority’s Board of Directors and in 2014 he was selected to serve on the Orange County Emergency Medical Care Committee.

A graduate of Cerritos College with a major in communications, he has also attended California State University, Fullerton. He is a graduate of the FBI, Los Angeles Division citizens academy in 2010; a graduate in 2011 of the Los Angeles Division of the Drug Enforcement Agency citizens academy and is a member of their Alumni Board of Directors. Also a graduate of the citizen’s academy for the Los Angeles ATF, he serves as president of their alumni association. In 2014, he graduated from the 8-week Orange County Sheriff’s Department citizen’s academy. He was approved by the FBI, Los Angeles, as a participant in InfraGard for homeland security.

Mr. Grose was previously employed by the City of Anaheim (1972-1983) as Public Information Officer. He is married to Wendy Grose, who is completing her Doctorate of Nursing Degree and is a Nurse Practitioner in private practice. Combined, they have six children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. They are residents of Old Town West in Los Alamitos.
