July is Parks Make Life Better Month! July is recognized by the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) as “Parks Makes Life Better” month which is a statewide initiative to promote parks, recreational activities, and community services for people of all ages. During July, the Los Alamitos Recreation & Community Services Department offers free activities, free admission, and social media contests to encourage residents to get out and recreate!
Parks Photography Contest
The Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department is hosting a Parks Photography Contest from July 1-July 15! Take a picture of your favorite park to show what parks mean to you for a chance to win a $25 virtual gift card! There is a Youth division (ages 3-17) and Adult (ages 18+) division for this contest and the winners will be announced on social media on July 30. Free Children’s Art Workshop (POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)
This free art class is on Saturday, July 18 from 2:30pm-4:00pm (ages 3-4) and 2:30pm-4:30pm (ages 5-12) at the Los Alamitos Community Center. Yoga in the Park
Join us on July 25th for Yoga in the Park at 8am at Little Cottonwood Park. Bring your mat and mask!
Pop Up Dog Park
Bring your four-legged friend to the Pop Up Dog Park at Laurel Park (10915 Bloomfield Street) from July 3-July 31. Hours of operation are Monday-Sunday from 7:00am-7:00pm. Please bring items to pick up after your pet. Social distancing and masks are required. For more information, please contact the Community Center at (562) 430-1073.
