Voting at Home

All registered voters in Orange County will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. If you prefer to cast your ballot in person, you can visit any Vote Center. To request a replacement ballot, click here.

Election Information
General Municipal Elections are held in the City of Los Alamitos on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November in even-numbered years.  The Los Alamitos City Clerk’s Office located in City Hall and is the City’s official election coordinator. 

District Based Elections

Beginning in 2020, residents in the City of Los Alamitos will vote for candidates who run in the district in which they live.  Once elected, these City Council Members will provide direct representation of the unique population, issues and challenges found within each of the districts.  The Council shall elect one of its members to act as Mayor as outlined in the City’s Charter. Voter Registration
To be eligible to vote in an election, you must register at least 15 days prior to the election date. Once you have registered, your voter registration will remain active, regardless of whether or not you voted in the last election.  You may register to vote on-line at www.ocvote.com. Voter registrations are maintained and filed with the County Registrar. You may mail your completed form directly to the County Registrar.


  • You must be a U.S. citizen at the time you register.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age before the date of the next election.
  • You may not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction.

You Must Re-register if You:

  • Move
  • Change Your Name
  • Change Your Political Party Affiliation
