Salaries and Labor Groups
The City of Los Alamitos' work force is comprised of several different labor groups. They all work cooperatively together to ensure that Council policy is carried out and that residents continue to receive the outstanding service that makes Los Alamitos a unique place to live and work. Groups include:
- Non-Represented Employees include positions in executive management, middle management, and/or confidential employees
- Police Officers Association (POA) consists of the Sergeants, Corporals, and Officers
- California Teamsters 911 includes employees from all departments and is the work force; the positions range from field personnel to office staff
- Part-Time Employees are paid on hourly basis to provide staffing to various departments throughout the City
Benefits
Benefits such as holidays, health insurance, and retirement differ slightly between each group. Specifics are laid out in each Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) listed on this page. California Public Employee's Retirement System (CalPERS) Employer Contribution Rates as of July 1, 2014 for the City of Los Alamitos are:
- Classic Miscellaneous Plan (2.7% at 55): 11.333%
- Classic Safety Plan (3% at 50): 29.103%
- PEPRA Miscellaneous Plan (2% at 62): 6.25%
- PEPRA Safety Plan (2.7% at 57): 11.5%

Compensation Reports
The City of Los Alamitos believes that information regarding City employee compensation should be readily available to the public. Compensation Reports are prepared every year and transmitted to the Secretary of State. The report contains detailed compensation information specific to each position.
