Shelley Hasselbrink

Shelley Hasselbrink joined the City Council in 2014 and served as mayor in 2017 and 2022.

Ms. Hasselbrink has a Bachelor of Science from University of Redlands and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Currently, she is the Controller for Mason West, a seismic engineering and fabricating company headquartered in Placentia with offices throughout California. Her 35-year career has included positions at CBS Television & WTC Consulting, and CI Solutions giving her expertise in administration, sales, business development and finance that give her the skills to make fiscally responsible decisions for Los Alamitos.

She serves on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Budget & Finance Committee for the Orange County Fire Authority and was Board Chair in 2020, as well as the Budget & Finance Committee for the City of Los Alamitos, She is the former President of The Youth Center Board of Directors, former board member of Los Alamitos Youth Baseball, and LATV-3 Cable Commissioner until her appointment to City Council. She is also an active volunteer with various non-profit agencies in town.

Ms. Hasselbrink has been a resident of Los Alamitos since 1993 and with her husband, Kurt, has raised two sons. Cooper (27), a local veterinarian and Carson (25), a Ph.D candidate in organic chemistry at The University of Rhode Island. Their sons are successful examples of children being raised in our thriving community going through the Los Alamitos Unified School District and being involved in a variety of sports leagues and community programs.

She truly believes that Los Alamitos is a great place to live, work, learn and serve!
