Shelley Hasselbrink joined the City Council in 2014 and served as mayor in 2017.
Ms. Hasselbrink has a Bachelor of Science from University of Redlands and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Currently, she is the Controller for Mason West Industries, a seismic engineering and fabricating company headquartered in Placentia with offices throughout California. Her 30-year career has included positions at CBS Television & WTC Consulting, and CI Solutions giving her expertise in administration, sales, business development and finance that give her the skills to make fiscally responsible decisions for Los Alamitos.
She serves on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Budget & Finance Committee for the Orange County Fire Authority, as wells as the Budget & Finance Committee for the City of Los Alamitos, League of California Cities OC Division Board of Directors and the Environmental Quality Policy Committee for the League of California Cities. She is the former President of The Youth Center Board of Directors, former board member of Los Alamitos Youth Baseball, and LATV-3 Cable Commissioner until her appointment to City Council. She is also an active volunteer with various non-profit agencies in town.
Ms. Hasselbrink has been a resident of Los Alamitos since 1993 and with her husband, Kurt, has raised two sons. Cooper (24), earning is Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Carson (21), a Ph.D candidate in explosives chemistry at The University of Rhode Island. Their sons are successful examples of children being raised in our thriving community going through the Los Alamitos Unified School District and being involved in a variety of sports leagues and community programs.
She truly believes that Los Alamitos is a great place to live, work, learn and serve!
