Building & Safety
The Building and Safety Division is responsible for establishing and enforcing minimum building standards for the purpose of protecting the health, safety, and general welfare of those who live, work, shop and play in Los Alamitos.

Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement Division responds to complaints of violations of the Los Alamitos Municipal Code that include substandard buildings, property maintenance, inoperative vehicles, weed abatement and land use violations.

Economic Development is at the heart of the Development Services Department. The fiscal stability of Los Alamitos and its local business community is the mission of this division that leads the City's business attraction and retention efforts.

Planning
The Planning Division's responsibilities include customer service related to physical development, Planning Commission work program implementation, Zoning Code development and administration, General Plan formulation and implementation, implementation of California Environmental Quality Act mandates, compliance monitoring for regional, state, and federal laws and, development review.

Public Works & Engineering
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of the City's infrastructure, including City streets, roadway signage, and landscaping, performing graffiti abatement for public facilities, managing drainage structures, performing upkeep of City parks, and overseeing the maintenance of City-owned traffic signals.

Report A Problem / Submit A Service Request
The My Los Al mobile app and web portal enables service requests (potholes, noise complaints, dangerous conditions, graffiti, etc.) to be submitted directly to the City, where they will be instantly routed to the correct administrator in the appropriate department. This means service requests will be responded to quickly and efficiently, and residents will be notified the instant problems are resolved. The app is also a great source of information on City services and news.
